Patricia was born and raised in Michipicoten’s traditional territory at Chapleau, Ontario. She sat as a Councillor for one term 2013-15, and has been elected Chief of our Nation in 2017, 2019, 2021 and most recently 2023.
Pat has a solid passion for demonstrating two-eyed seeing. She sees the values and teachings of our Ancestors and Elders through one eye and looks through a western lens with the other eye. Balancing traditional knowledge with sciences to protect and care for Mother Earth, and all of our siblings in Creation is reflected in the many projects she has been involved with throughout the years.
She is very humbled with Michipicoten’s citizens vote of confidence in her leadership abilities, skills, and expertise. Pat is committed to continue working diligently with her team of Councillors, staff, and consultants to develop relationships with First Nations, governments, and industry partners. “Our priority is to protect the rights and interests of Michipicoten Citizens, honour our Ancestors and our next seven generations while building our Nation into the proud people our Ancestors meant us to be. It’s an honour and a privilege to be here at this place in time doing Creator’s work and leading our people to mino biimaadiziwin… the good life”.
