John-Paul Chalykoff is currently serving his second term as a councilor for Michipicoten First
Nation’s Chief & Council.
He is currently 32 years old. He is a graduate of Algoma University/Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig in Sault Ste Marie, ON, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA3) in Anishinaabemowin in 2011.
He went on to complete a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON in 2012, with qualifications to teach Native Studies and History at the Intermediate/Senior level.
He completed additional qualifications to be able to teach French as a Second Language, as well as Ojibwe a Second Language. He is currently finishing his final course in the Master of Education program at Lakehead University, with all requirements for the program being met in June, 2019.
He is an Ontario Certified Teacher in Good Standing through the Ontario College of Teachers. He taught Ojibwe Language community classes for Michipicoten First Nation in 2015-2016. He also taught Ojibwe at the public elementary school in Wawa in 2017-2018. John-Paul Chalykoff lives in Wawa, ON.
