My name is Christine Lewis, I am honored to be elected for Council.
A little about me, I was born in Wawa, ON lived here with my parents Christopher Laverne Lewis and Emily Judy Lewis (nee Stone) for the first 9 years of my life, moved to Elliot Lake and then moved to Winnipeg. Spent most of my life living in Winnipeg. I am a proud mother of 2 wonderful children Austin and Roxanne, we moved to Michipicoten in December 2009. Since moving back to my home territory, I have been involved with the Michipicoten First Nation Community Trust (MFNCT) where I sat on the Board of Trustees and I was also the Trust Administrator for 5 years, which I enjoyed very much. In 2018, I switched careers and moved on to Supercom Industries where I was a Training Advisor for Michipicoten, this was a great experience, I enjoyed working the community members get training and becoming employed with the East West Tie Transmission Line. In 2019, I gained employment with Anishinabek Employment and Training Services as the Eastern Regional Officer, I gain a lot of knowledge and experience working with a variety of communities along the North Shore of Lake Superior, assisting individuals getting into training to pursue their career goals. In 2020, Supercom offered a new role within the company and returned to Supercom Industries. I love helping people gain the skills required to gain employment and pursue their dreams, I love seeing people succeed.
Personally, there is not much to know about me, what you see is what you get. I am down to earth, love spending time outdoors, walking, enjoying Mother Earth and starting to learn more about the culture and traditions of our people. It is a big honor to be sitting along side of the Chief and rest of the Council doing what we can to make Michipicoten a better place for us today, tomorrow and into the future.
