Communique to Members from Chief & Council – posted 2025-04-08
“Aaniin Michipicoten Members,
Your newly elected Chief and Council had a great first week, which included a full day of ceremony on April 1, 2025. Chi-Miigwetch to Councillor Evelyn Stone, helpers and the community for the wonderful welcome.
We then had three days of orientation last week. Chi-Miigwetch Diane, Micheal, and all staff. The presentations were informative, and we have an amazing team to build upon!
The Robinson Superior Treaty (RST) annuities and the per capita distributions (PCD) were discussed by the Chief and Council during our orientation week. We have not received a timeframe as to when the funds will be transferred from the Federal and Provincial Governments, but we anticipate the PCD should be in the summer months – June/July.
The first regular meeting of newly elected Chief and Council is Thursday, April 10, 2025, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. There will be a Q&A for the RST at the close of the regular meeting agenda.
